As long as there are people locked behind bars, Maine Inside Out will go inside, will continue to create space for connection and
creative work behind the walls, and will share that work with the community outside.
Your gift to Maine Inside Out supports this commitment. It is also an investment in the humanity and the potential of those returning home after incarceration. Young people who joined Maine Inside Out while incarcerated have grown into the leaders now shaping our organization’s future. Their creative work makes an unforgettable impression on all who witness it, whether locally in Maine or this year, on the road in Michigan, Boston and Washington, DC. Maine Inside Out’s weekly group meetings Biddeford, Lewiston, and Portland continue to offer support, connection and purpose to longtime group members and newly released young people just transitioning home after incarceration. In spaces near and far, MIO members are building bridges across boundaries by leading with love and brilliantly modeling the combination of creative power, vulnerability and profound care for each other that has become their hallmark.
The words that echoed through Hannaford Hall on November 8th form the foundation of the request we now make of you. We truly do need each other to do this sacred work. The ways we show up for each other matter, in our families, in our communities, and in the world. Your generous giving matters.
Thank you for believing in this work. Thank you for investing in it. We are proud to be building a world where justice is possible together.
Maine Inside Out’s ability to invest in our community exists because of the partnership solidarity, and generosity of you, our friends and supporters.
We invite you to give as generously as you are able in support of Maine Inside Out.
In the face of the very real challenges of this moment in time, we are honored to have your partnership in our ongoing efforts to initiate dialogue, develop leadership, and build community across boundaries with creative work.
