National Day of Empathy, MIO performance and dialogue at the Statehouse, Augusta

  • Maine State House 210 State Street Augusta, ME, 04330 United States (map)

The National Day of Empathy highlights the need for #JusticeReformNOW and shares the perspectives of Americans impacted by the current justice system - from survivors of violent crime to those who are addicted to opioids or other drugs and those who mentally ill to incarcerated individuals working to transform themselves, people with a criminal record desperately seeking a second chance, and all community members impacted by crime, public safety, and violence.

Maine Inside Out is proud to be our state’s hosting organization for the 2019 Day of Empathy. Maine Inside Out will perform “Unspoken Truth,” an original performance created by the cast based on their experiences in Maine communities and correctional facilities. A dialogue will follow the performance to further explore the personal and collective experiences that inspired the play. The event will take place in room 436 at the Maine State House and begin at 11:30am.
