“The Big Yes” at Southern Maine Women’s Re-entry Center

Maine Inside Out is partnering with the Department of Corrections to bring “The Big Yes” by the MIO Creative Ensemble inside Maine prisons. These shows will not be open to the public and are meant for viewing by correctional staff and incarcerated people inside each facility.

“The Big Yes” is an original performance exploring the roles we become trapped in — 

within family, work, relationships, social expectations, and the pressures we place on

ourselves. Blending performance with conversation, “The Big Yes” is a call toward

imagination, courage, and collective liberation — a journey to the river, to new

possibilities, and to a bigger yes. Through film, theater, reflection, and dialogue, “The Big Yes” brings us together for challenging conversation and action. 

Following this event, incarcerated individuals will have the opportunity to express interest in participating in an MIO theater project inside the facility for the fall.
