We’re looking for our next Board members - could that be you?
Seeking Our Next Board Members!
Dear Maine Inside Out community,
To sustain and deepen Maine Inside Out’s work to ignite collective creativity and inspire social action by engaging youth and adults impacted by systemic oppression to create and share original theater, we are looking for 2 to 4 new Board members to join us beginning in August 2026.
The MIO Board is a group of people who care deeply about this organization and show up for it — offering governance, financial stewardship, fundraising support, and community connection. We work in partnership with MIO's Co-Executive Directors and staff, and we are guided by the same values that run through all of MIO's work: Purpose, Connection, Love, Trust, Creativity, and Consistency.
This year, we are especially hoping to hear from people who:
Live in or are deeply connected to the Lewiston community
Direct experience with incarceration (your own or through family or community)
Bring experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations
You do not need to meet all three. You do not need a polished resume or prior board experience. What matters most is a connection to MIO's mission and a readiness to show up.

Four Days, More Than $41,000 Raised!
Just a quick update: Since we sent our appeal a few days ago, you’ve helped us get almost half way to our goal of $100,000 by June 22.
That’s real momentum - thank you for believing in this work.
Every dollar gets us closer to continuing essential youth programming in Lewiston, bringing theater inside Maine prisons this fall, and keeping our work going to collectively shift culture using the tool of theater.
