Maine Inside Out and Portland Outright have been touring the pieces of our collaborative show Love is Alternatives to Incarceration since its debut in November 2017. We're so excited to reunite the performance and art installation on June 1st for a special Portland's First Friday Art Walk event in Congress Square Park. Following the performance, we'll be hosting a Cumberland County District Attorney Candidates Forum where all candidates are invited to answer questions from the public and hear from Maine Inside Out and Portland Outright participants. We hope you'll join us!

Fifteen Maine Inside Out community participants will join the University of Michigan's Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP) for a week long residency as part of the PCAP 23rd Annual Exhibition of Art by Michigan Prisoners. Maine Inside Out will perform their original play "Love is Alternatives to Incarceration" on two UM campuses as well as present and facilitate workshops for University students, incarcerated youth and adults and PCAP volunteers.
MIO will be opening for Sister Helen Prejean at Colby College February 12, 2018. 5 years ago, Sister Helen Prejean joined MIO for our very first performance with 7 incarcerated youth, “Journey Through Punishment” at Hannaford Hall in Portland. On February 12, the performer troupe will be fifteen MIO community participants directly impacted by mass incarceration performing “Love Is Alternatives to Incarceration.” The movement has grown! This night should not be missed.
