Reflecting on This Year, and Looking Ahead

Hi everyone,

Maine Inside Out would not be possible without the support, care, and partnership of our community. We are grateful for all the ways you’ve shown up to engage with our workshops and performances, partner on projects, and support our work.

Thank you to Margot and Bruce for three years of leadership as Co-Executive Directors. They led the organization through tremendous internal growth and into new creative projects and partnerships. We will miss you and are grateful for the foundation you’ve laid for years to come.

Thank you to the MIO Board who has stewarded the organization through a leadership transition with thoughtfulness and care.

Thank you to MIO’s community of artists whose creativity and courage to create theater as a way for connection and change is the heart of MIO’s work.

This film, created by Smooth Feather Productions, offers a glimpse of our work this year and the power of art to connect us in shared vulnerability and interdependence that is the soil for personal and social change.

MIO’s work has always been a meeting place of challenge and creativity, pain and connection, persistence and playfulness. This year has been no different. We are mourning the tragedies and losses that have happened in our communities, in Lewiston, and across the state. We are here, with all of our creativity and love, to meet these moments and each other.

We are so grateful to be in a relationship with each of you and can’t wait to connect in 2024.

Introducing MIO’s Interim Co-Directors

Noah Bragg

Joseph Jackson

Chiara Liberatore

Chiara Liberatore, Joseph Jackson, and Noah Bragg are the new Interim Co-Executive Directors of MIO. Chiara, Joseph, and Noah have a long history of working together at MIO: facilitating workshops at Long Creek Youth Development Center, coordinating statewide community groups, organizing local and national performance tours, and supporting MIO’s administrative and strategic growth. They will lead MIO into its next phase of organizational growth and projects. While they are familiar faces at MIO, this structure for leadership is a new and exciting moment for the organization.

We, MIO’s Board of Directors, look forward to working with them closely to continue to support the growth and evolution of Maine Inside Out.

December Open Mic Recap

MIO’s last open mic of 2023 held at Afro Taste in Lewiston had a terrific turnout. The room was filled with MIO members, staff, board, supporters and community members. Many powerful original pieces of art were shared and the group collectively honored Margot and Bruce as they transition out of their Co-Executive Director roles.
The love for Lewiston was felt through pieces of artwork shared and was initiated by our featured artist Amy Stacey Curtis.
